RM Sunday Session: Cristina Vives in Conversation with Cuban Artists

Join us at Galerie Ron Mandos for an insightful RM Sunday Session, featuring a conversation between Cristina Vives, curator of The Permanent Journey: Dreams and Experiences by Ten Contemporary Cuban Artists, Cuban artist Inti Hernandez, and other featured Cuban artists from the exhibition. This dialogue will delve into the personal and collective narratives that have shaped their artistic journeys, revealing the profound connections between their experiences and their artworks.

The RM Sunday Session will not only shed light on The Permanent Journey but will also complement Inti Hernandez’s exhibition In pursuit of a life without regret Combined, these exhibitions create a vibrant dialogue that spans from personal growth and sustainability to collective experiences and the Cuban diaspora, reflecting a diverse range of perspectives within the contemporary Cuban art scene.

About Cristina Vives:

Cristina Vives, based in Havana, is a distinguished independent art curator and critic with a rich background in contemporary art and photography. She co-founded Estudio Figueroa-Vives in 1994, which stands as one of the first independent contemporary art spaces in Cuba. Vives has an extensive portfolio, having curated numerous exhibitions in Cuba, the United States, and Europe since 1986. Notably, she curated Collographs by Belkis Ayón at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid in 2021. Additionally, she led a traveling exhibition of Ayón’s work from 2009 to 2020, and curated exhibitions at the Fowler Museum in Los Angeles and the Inter-American Development Bank Staff Association Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. Through these initiatives, Cristina Vives continues to contribute to the global contemporary art scene.
