About Amantina Jean
Amantina Jean is an Amsterdam based performing artist, dance teacher and upcoming film director. Influenced by her father as a percussionist and mother’s Latin American roots, her dance journey started at home. With family gatherings every member danced, no matter how young or old. This feeling of belonging is what matters most in her art.
She started her dance training at age 7, and continued performing on Dutch live television and multiple theaters including the Carré Royal Theater of The Netherlands. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts and received a Talent of the Year Award from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds with which she furthered her training and performance at The Ailey School (part of the multi award winning and historic Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre) in New York City. Living in New York has expanded her art into being a beautiful tool to connect with people. In her latest work she combined her experiences together with 20 Netherlands based artists and created a dance short called FACES.
