Isaac Julien: Featured in The Art Newspaper

Sir Isaac Julien was recently featured in an article on The Art Newspaper about the must-see shows in and around Maastricht during TEFAF 2024. Julien’s exhibition, What Freedom Is To Me, at The Bonnefanten Museum, stands out for its innovative blend of film with photography, performance, music, and painting.

His diverse work delves into important social themes, especially focusing on Black and queer identity, social justice, class, sexuality, and cultural history. This survey of his work from the 1980s to the present, previously exhibited at Tate Britain and K21 Düsseldorf, is a highlight in the Dutch art calendar, being exhibited alongside our own showing of Julien’s Once Again… (Statues Never Die)  and coinciding with TEFAF 2024.
