Best Of Graduates 2024 in Het Parool
We at Galerie Ron Mandos are pleased to have been featured in Het Parool. Some of our talented artists shared insights into their creative processes and inspirations through short interviews.
Josquin van Elburg is excited to be part of this year’s ‘Best of Graduates’ exhibition. His paintings, arranged in a ‘salon style,’ draw from early 20th-century visual language, blending historical and modern elements. Van Elburg begins with fragments and builds them into cohesive pieces that juxtapose 15th-century portraits with film noir figures.
Pieke Pleijers offers a series of intimate analog portraits capturing moments before relationships are clearly defined. His work explores the space where emotional connections form, emphasizing the value found in these fleeting interactions.
Emily Bernstein delves into her family history through new media and technology. Using AI tools like DALL-E 2, she visualizes her lineage, blending personal narrative with broader discussions on memory and history.
Amber Schaafsma presents a striking triptych that reflects her philosophy of romantic irony. Her work draws parallels to Edward Hopper’s iconic paintings but with a contemporary twist, exploring themes of everyday life and its inherent contradictions.
We invite you to experience these remarkable works at Galerie Ron Mandos until September 15th. For more insights, read the full article in Dutch via the link or click on the photo below. You can also click on the names of each artist above and learn more in their Online Viewing Room!
