Following on previous years, team Ron Mandos along with curator Radek Vana visited all of the Dutch art academies to select new and upcoming talents for the annual summer exhibition: THE BEST OF GRADUATES. Once again, Galerie Ron Mandos finalized a group show with a wide variety of media and styles. This ever-surprising exhibition presents premises and fascinations among newly graduated artists.
Since its first show in 2005, THE BEST OF GRADUATES has become a well-attended annual event at Galerie Ron Mandos. This 11th edition of the quest for talent proves again that Dutch academies provide a solid startingpoint for the careers of young artists.
This years edition shows large scaled sculptures and ingenious installations next to beautiful paintings in different styles. The special video-room shows a selection of intriguing films. Also on show are interesting photo series. For the first time during this annual summer exhibition an audio tour is part of the show.
For THE BEST OF GRADUATES 2015 we selected the artists Yvon Ariese, Nicola Arthen, Juan De Porras-Isla Fernandez La Casta, Wouter Paijmans and Hugo Rocci of Amsterdam's Gerrit Rietveld Academy. From the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, we welcome Esther Hovers, Simon Oosterhuis, Jonas Raps, Elise Sothys, Eline van Strien, Max de Waard, Abel Wolff and Mickey Yang. There are also works by Nora Axnick, Helena Hoogenraad, Hilde Onis and Roland Spitzer from ArtEZ Academy and Stefan Cameraat, Lex Hoogendam, Wouter van der Laan from HKU in Utrecht and Maud van den Beuken, Ivo van de Elzen, Tahné Kleijn, Teun Welten from St. Joost Academies in Breda and Den Bosch.
The participating artists have a chance of winning the Ron Mandos Young Blood Award, which allows the winner to exhibit his or her work in the gallery or at a (inter) national art fair. In addition, as a guest of the exhibition, you can contribute by voting for your favourite contestant and determine who wins the Public’s Prize. Arjan van Helmond, artist and teacher at ArtEZ, will present both awards to the winners. The ceremony itself will take place on 27 August at 17 hrs.
The exhibition will take place at a temporary location (around the corner): Konijnenstraat 16A, Amsterdam Opening hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 12 – 18 hrs
