AVAILABLE WORKS BY MINNIE FAWCETT-TANGFor Best of Graduates 2026, Minnie Fawcett-Tang (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague) presents Vertigo, a series of oil paintings. Surrounded by screens and constant distraction, we long for clarity yet are met with uncertainty. Vertigo explores the fragility of being young and free while mentally oversaturated. Much like repeating a word until it loses its meaning, Fawcett-Tang uses both material and her own image to dissolve familiar associations, transforming painting into a mantra. Her works function as diary entries, documenting an ongoing and complex relationship with the self while reflecting a broader resistance to the attention economy of the digital age.
Her artistic practice is grounded in the act of looking as a form of communication, observing the fracture lines created by ever-present, unspoken social expectations. Numbed by the rhythms of the attention economy, her own image becomes a motif as she buries herself in repetition and material.
