Panamarenko (Antwerp, 1940), the famous international artist, is not often exhibited in the Netherlands. Renato Nicolodi (Anderlecht, 1980) is an onrushing talent from Belgium who has just experienced his first solo exhibition in Antwerp. Both artists make large and gripping artworks and with this show, RONMANDOS begins a spectacular new season.
*Panamarenko* (Antwerp, 1940) is an extraordinary individual within the modern art world who cannot be labelled.
As an artist, engineer, physicist, inventor and visionary, he has made exceptional research into concepts as space, movement, flight, energy and gravitation. His work is a combination of artistic and technical experiment and comes in the appearance of airplanes, submarines, automobiles, flying carpets and birds. And every time they are spectacular constructions of a strange beauty, both playful and impressive.
*Renato Nicolodi* (Anderlecht, 1980) is a rising star in the Flemish art world. After his first solo exhibition at the Antwerp gallery Annie Gentils, he now transforms the ground floor at RONMANDOS gallery.
The architectural work of Nicolodi looks monumental. The artist is inspired by classic big city architecture that he uses to create his own models. Only until the spectator enters the artwork and looks at it very closely, only then he can seize it. Different perspectives and see-troughs reveal a subtle play of light. The pure form almost becomes sacral.
